Cupcakes & Coffee!

Cupcakes and coffee!  They go together like chocolate and peanut butter, right?  Well in my world they do!  So, it would come as no surprise that my first purchase out of the current SU! catalog was the Coffee Break Suite (pg 30-31).  How could I resist?  It is just perfect for the coffee lover that I am.  Great for sending cards to fellow coffee addicts and packaging up those coffee gift cards for friends, teachers and co-workers, etc.  But you don't have to love coffee to have a use for this set.  If you look beyond those adorable coffee inspired projects on page 30 and you look at the images of the stamps.... can't you see milkshakes?  cupcakes?  Don't limit yourself just to coffee.

Last weekend I was fortunate to attend the spring SU! event in Atlanta.  It was a weekend full of meeting new friends,  fun stamping and gathering inspiration from the SU! community for the coming year.  I participated in two swap events where we shared creativity.  If you take away the paper and accessories from the Coffee Break Suite and change up the color scheme and you can create a sweet, feminine card perfect for celebrating a birthday for someone special (young or old), shower gift, or even a wedding.  Inspired from Pinterest I created this card, one would never know it came from a coffee stamp set!

I used the Coffee Cups Framelits to create the cupcake wrapper, this piece is meant to be the sleeve for the coffee cups.  Notice how it embosses the texture/dimension as it cuts?  The icing on the cupcake is the whipped topping image in the stamp set.  I added a few flowers and the sentiment from Perennial Birthday which is a stamp set in the current Occasions (seasonal) Catalog.  Cute right?  I just love how it turned out!  Would you like to create some coffee inspired projects yourself (remember, not just coffee)?  There is a class in the works.  Stay tuned later this week!

Happy stampin'!

Birthday Wishes for You (His & Hers)!

January continues to be the month I stock up on my birthday card supply.  I loved the simplicity of the card in the new Occasions Catalog that features the Birthday Wishes for You stamp set (page 3).  I used the layout as an inspiration to create two cards showcasing this set today.  The first card has a feminine color scheme and uses simple stamping and a paper piecing technique.

I used the confetti stamps from the Picture Perfect Birthday on both of the cards to add some background dimension.  On this first card I also used my Wink of Stella glitter brush to add some shimmer to the "birthday".  Don't all girls love a little sparkle, especially on their special day?

This second card is bright and cheery and would be perfect for a special man in your life (big or little).  On this version I chose to heat emboss the banner pieces with white embossing powder. I did not feel the need for sparkle; however, I chose some black sequins to add a little more dimension to the card.

I just love this stamp set, it is such a great value at only $12 (clear mount) and there are so many ways to be used for any aged recipient.  These cards came together in just a few minutes!

Want to recreate these cards?  A product list has been included below for each card.  Feel free to choose one of these color combinations or choose one of your own.  The possibilities are endless!

Happy Stampin' !
